Welcome from the ERS President

The 27^th International Congress of the European Respiratory Society will be hosted in Milan for the first time this year.

As ERS President, I am proud to welcome you to the world's largest meeting in the respiratory world.

The Chairs of the Scientific and Educational Councils, together with all our Officers, are working hard to bring you a programme that addresses the needs of all respiratory professionals, from scientists to clinicians and allied health professionals. I am confident that the 2017 programme will stimulate debate and shed new light on advances in the field.

Alongside the programme, the Congress provides the perfect opportunity for our members and other delegates to network with peers from across the world. Knowledge is deepened when it is shared and by meeting together, discussing experiences and debating varying approaches to key topics, we can work towards a better future for respiratory health.

I look forward to welcoming you to Milan for the most exciting event in the respiratory calendar.
